Monsoon Reading

The 2026 monsoon arrived a little earlier in Myanmar than usual, and this year has brought continuous downpours. As always, the coast and the mountains are receiving the most rain. One day in August, our learning centre in Putao, up in the foothills of the Himalayas, recorded 95 mm (3.74 inches) of rain in a single 24-hour period!

When it is too rainy to go outside, our Kachin team run Monsoon Reading Circles at community centres, IDP camps and schools. People of all ages use eTekkatho MyLibrary to discover digital resources, lessons and stories about whatever interests them.

Regular access to books and learning resources helps nurture a love of reading, while building knowledge, confidence and a sense of possibility.

Happy reading to everyone taking part in the circles!

Thank you for helping to keep reading and learning going, even through the long, rainy days.
