Finding Moms and Building HOPE

Every day, Mama Dragons reaches mothers who are just beginning their journey—mothers who love their children deeply but are afraid, unsure, and alone.

Recently, one mom shared her story with us. Her teenage child had just come out as transgender, and she admitted she was terrified. She had never known anyone who was transgender before and didn’t know where to turn for help. A small community parenting group gave her our name, and within days, she joined the Mama Dragons network.

There, she found what she needed most—understanding, support, and resources to help her learn what it means to be a safe and affirming parent. Other mothers listened without judgment, shared their own experiences, and helped her see that her love was enough.

Today, she says she no longer feels afraid—she feels proud. Her realtionship with her child is on solid ground, and she has become a voice for love in her own community.

This is exactly why we do this work. Through our National Outreach Project, we’ve connected with and are now partnering with over 100 organizations across the country to find and support more mothers just like her—especially in conservative and faith-centered areas where help can be hard to find.

Because every mother we reach builds another affirming home. And every affirming home helps another LGBTQ+ child grow up safe, loved, and proud of who they are.
