Happy International Women's Day!

By Nik Peasgood | Project Leader

Hello all,

We would like to wish you a Happy International Women’s Day and thank you for your ongoing generosity and support. We know that 1 in 4 women will experience domestic violence over their lifetime so the women’s refuges and support services we provide are vital in helping keep women and children safe. Thanks to supporters like you, we’re able to help thousands of women and children get the support they need. This month we’d like to inform you about some exciting ways you can support our charity and help us raise essential funds.

Celebrating International Women’s Day

To mark International Women’s Day, we are delighted to be holding a breakfast event on Friday 8th March with Spire Barristers where we will be discussing the draft Domestic Abuse Bill and how this could affect women and families in Leeds. The event is full but if you’d like to find out how you can find out more about the Domestic Abuse Bill then please contact us.

Join the Leeds Women’s Aid Fun Run!

On Sunday 14th July, we’re inviting you to take part in the Big Fun Run Leeds and help us raise money for our domestic violence support services. The cost of taking part is £16.25 or £14.00 for children and concessions. You can register for the run at: https://www.bigfunrun.com/leeds/

The scenic 5k route runs through Middleton Park which is a 630 acre park of rolling parklands, beautiful lakes, ancient woods and gardens. The Big Fun Run is a fun and exciting challenge for anyone who wants to run, walk or jog while raising money for charity.

We would love for everyone running on our behalf to try and raise a minimum of £50 for our charity. All the money raised through this event will help fund our domestic violence support services. If you would like to fundraise on our behalf please contact our Fundraising Team on 0113 244 2578. We can provide you with a Leeds Women’s Aid t-shirt and give you advice about how to set up a fundraising page and collect sponsorship.

Leaving a Legacy for Leeds Women’s Aid

If you are thinking about writing a Will or amending an existing one, including a charity can be a very special way of helping good work to continue in the future. A legacy – a gift in your Will – provides you with the opportunity to help victims of domestic violence and abuse and make a long term difference. As a charity we rely on additional income to help support all the work we do. Leaving a gift in your will is a valuable source of income.

If you are considering leaving a gift in your Will, you can contact us to discuss it further on 0113 244 2578 or email alice@leedswomensaid.org.uk

Thank you for your support and I’ll be in touch again soon,

Nik
