We wanted to take a moment to share some recent highlights and thank you for your continued support. Together, we are helping women and children feel safe, valued, and supported as they rebuild their lives.
International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day was a huge success this year. From head shaves and wine tasting events to 30-mile walks, it has been wonderful to see the many creative ways our supporters chose to celebrate and fundraise for Leeds Women’s Aid.
Together, supporters raised nearly £3,000, which will make a meaningful difference to the lives of the women and families we support. Alongside these incredible fundraising efforts, we also received dozens of donations of toiletries and wellbeing goodies for women and children staying in refuge.
Thank you to everyone who got involved, donated, fundraised, or helped spread the word.
Swap, Mend & Make a Difference in Horsforth
As part of Fashion Revolution Week, our Horsforth shop teamed up with Horsforth Climate Action to host a joyful and practical Swap & Mend event on 25th April — and what a brilliant morning it was.
The event invited the local community to bring along clothes to swap, refresh or repair, promoting a more sustainable approach to fashion while creating space for conversation and connection.
Visitors browsed and swapped garments, giving clothes a second life and reducing waste. Others took the opportunity to learn simple mending techniques, proving that a missing button or small tear doesn’t have to mean the end of a well-loved item. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, with people stopping for a chat over a drink while sharing ideas and skills.
Beyond the practical impact, the event also created a valuable opportunity to raise awareness of Leeds Women’s Aid’s work supporting women and families across the city.
Spotlight on our Corporate Supporters: Shoosmiths
We are proud to have worked with Shoosmiths Leeds over the past two years as their Charity of the Year. During this time, the team has taken on a wide range of fundraising challenges, from running the Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon to organising scavenger hunts and raffles, tackling the Three Peaks, and even completing a white-knuckle skydive.
The collective efforts of the Shoosmiths Leeds team have raised an incredible £34,536, supporting key projects including the Children and Young People Hub build and our Moving On Fund.
Thank you so much to everyone involved, and thank you for your continued support of Leeds Women’s Aid.
Best wishes,
Nik
