These people survivors of the flooding have been forgotten by the Government, the humanitarian relief aid workers and other actors for development present in Kinshasa .
As per now because we do not funding, we are not even in the position to deploy our team on ground in the field but also we are not able to offer anything to the survivors. Our representative in Kinshasa has financial challenges in order to put in place an advicacy strategy and other interventions.
What we feared has unfortunately happened, and yet this is what we wanted to avoid for the survivors of the flooding in Kinshasa to face their worst. More than a year now, the survivors of flooding in Kinshasa continue to sink into destitution and are now leaving this world one by one. The DRCongo government is totally absent, not only here but also in other various disaster situations in DRCongo and even absent on the situation of those affected by the war.
Humanitarian relief aid workers came in and offered what they called urgent relief aid and disappeared, none of the actors is on ground to help the victims to develop resilience and restore their lives anymore. We are much aware that DRCongo is facing various serious humanitarian crisis which are not the priority of the government. As today DRC is the first country in the world with a high number of Internally Displaced Persons, some are a result of natural disasters, others are a result of ethnic conflicts and others are a result of the current war in the Eastern DRCongo.
On top of that DRCongo humanitarian crisis is not attracting the attention of the media at all levels local, national and international, this has exposed the survivors to severe consequences which we could have prevented. However, we still believe that together with you we can change the narrative and support those who are still alive.
Let us work together and spread the news about these forgotten people victims of flooding in Kinshasa DRCongo.
