Dear friends,
some wounds take a long time to heal, and some never do.
Ten years have passed since devastating floods struck parts of Serbia, washing away not only homes and belongings but also people’s sense of safety and stability. For many families, life has never truly returned to what it was. Despite the support received over the years, their needs remain deep and real.
Among them is a mother from Ljubovija whose strength has carried her through unimaginable loss. Eleven years ago, she lost her husband and was left to raise two children alone. We’ve supported her family for years, especially her son, a bright student with big dreams. Tragically, he was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away last year.
Now, she and her teenage daughter, a first-year high school student, are alone. Together, they carry the weight of losing a son, a brother, and the home they once had. Because when the floods came, they lost everything.
Their grief is quiet but enormous. Their struggle is daily and invisible to many. But to us, and to you, it matters deeply.
This is why your support means the world. It allows us to help families like theirs not just survive, but find a sense of dignity again. We provide school supplies, clothes, emotional support, and most importantly, a reminder that they are not forgotten.
We will continue to gather donations with full heart and dedication. These families deserve a future worthy of their resilience.
Thank you for standing by them, and by us.
With gratitude,
Pomoc deci team
