#Update While I was on a private trip to Southeastern Nigeria about a week ago, I stopped by to see Ugo and her parents. I was impressed to see the recorded progress achieved by this particular family. For those of you who have been following this story since 2019, here are a few among several practical steps our nonprofit, Rural Watch Africa Initiative -RUWAI, and her partners have taken to bring sustainable solutions to a family that survived a terrible fire at the peak of the Covid19 pandemic. Since we handed over the two-bedroom house newly built for the family and the new palm kernel processing plant in 2022, Ugo's father - Uzor, is gradually doing business. Recently we trained and supported them in starting a farm to grow their food to supplement the already established business for the family. I spent time visiting the farm to see things for myself. Uzor and his wife had planted cassava, maize, and various vegetables on about 2 acres of land. RUWAI rented the farmland and supplied them with all the inputs, including organic fertilizer, to ensure the family remained healthy. Ugo was happy to receive another skincare pack from us to help perfect her skin condition. I donated a trunk of food items to the family for the children on behalf of RUWAI and its partners. Note: Both couples are deaf and can not speak, making them a particular recipient of our charity- under a disaster response program. Thank you for supporting this program.
