We held our annual end of year party for the teen club, a support group for teens living with/affected by HIV.

Adolescents and youth in Eswatini do not have adequate information and access to services which enable them to make informed decisions on their sexual and reproductive health yet they experience a variety of challenges. Young people are particularly vulnerable because of their age and social-economic factors and are highly susceptible to peer pressure and have tendencies towards risk-taking behaviours.

Fortunately, some youth have found comfort in a teen club set up by Kudvumisa Foundation. The club consists of a support group for children who are living with HIV, and are designed to help HIV-positive adolescents support each other. The club addresses the psychological and clinical needs of adolescents so that they feel confident, stay on treatment, and prevent transmission of the virus to their own future partners or children.

You'll notice that all the adolescent participants turn their heads for the photos. This is to ensure their privacy as stigma from HIV is still a real thing at this difficult age, unfortunately. This was a lovely Christmas party and we look forward to more days of doing life together in 2023.
