Luna was brought into the Center of Hope this week as part of our spay neuter program. She is from a shelter run by a very kind man. Luna was too weak to have any surgery, she has been diagnosed with the tickborne illness babesiosis. Our vet tech Alexandra explains here from Romania about the emergency treatment that saved Luna's life:
"She was hidden under that fur.... full of ticks. Weak and very very anemic. We had to do an emergency blood transfusion so we can save her. She was dehydrated and it was a struggle to take her blood for tests. But in the end we could make. With the efforts of Sasha and Dr Lungu, we managed and of course find a vein for the transfusion. Emotions were so big.. But we did it... And after few minutes dog raised in her own paws
and was the great feeling of the world"
Luna is still in intensive care at the Center of Hope near Bucharest, and she will stay there until she is healthy enough for adoption. We need help in funding all her treatments. Dr. Aurelian says the cost will be approximately $350. To save this precious life and be able to help others with our Homeless Animals Hospital, we must pay for these expenses.
I hope you can help us help sweet precious souls like Luna. She will need lots of rest, more blood, great nutritious food, and eventually her vaccines and spaying. Once healthy, she will be adopted to the UK.
Please help support Luna and other patients that the Homeless Animals Hospital sees on a daily basis.
Thank you friends!
