Summary
This project aims to support people living in the shadows of society in Pondicherry. We are in the process of establishing a center for the homeless and offer them services to improve their quality of life. Our project will provide empowerment, counseling, de-addiction and vocational training to help these individuals transition from a life of poverty to integrated members of our society.
Challenge
A homeless individual is defined as “an individual who lacks housing (without regard to whether the individual is a member of a family), including an individual whose primary residence during the night is a supervised public or private facility (e.g., shelters) that provides a temporary living. Individual factors, such as a lack of qualifications, relationship breakdown or substance abuse, can lead to homelessness as well as family background issues like disputes, sexual and physical abuse from parents or guardians or previous experience of family homeless.
Solution
Prime Trust provides temporary residence for homeless individuals and families. It is intended to provide residents with safety and protection from exposure to the weather while simultaneously reducing the environmental impact on the community. As an initiative, we aim to support 10 homeless women with children at our Homeless Centre. The center will provide services such as counseling, domestic violence protection, de-addiction, and rehabilitation support. Vocational training and micro-credit opportunities to help them achieve financial stability are offered. Children will be provided with proper educational support and access to any of the evening schools of Prime Trust.
Long-Term Impact
The people who are supported by this project will be reintegrated into society without having to live on the streets. Updates Prime Trust with its team supports the individuals by providing awareness education provides counseling, support the children with school supplies. The children are motivated to attend evening remedial classes at our center.
