The Constitution of India, under Article 47, enjoins that the state shall Endeavour to bring about prohibition of the consumption of intoxicating drinks and drugs, which are injurious to health. The activities to reduce the drug use related problems in the country could broadly be divided into two categories- supply reduction and demand reduction. The supply reduction which aims at reducing the availability of illicit drugs within the country come under the purview of the NCB under the MHA and the Department of Revenue as the administrator of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985 and the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act,1988.

The demand reduction activities focus upon awareness building, treatment and rehabilitation of drug using patients. These activities are run by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment as the nodal Ministry and to some extent by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

Prime Trust along with its staff and volunteers conducted one day training program on drug de-addiction program for the homeless community living in Petit Canal Street, Puducherry on 16th December 2021.

The volunteers covered the topic on evil effects drugs on consumption and how it affects the family and community. It was assured that Prime Trust will guide them to get admitted in a de-addiction centre and get recovered.

 Cloth distribution

At the end of the pram, the members of the community were offered sparingly used cloths.
