Shopping for presents
You might remember from our last report that our young residents are beautifying our building with enthusiasm. In every room they have changed the wallpapers and our house has become prettier. Furthermore almost all of them are working. The little ones are going to kindergartens and to schools.
Thanks to your donations we are able to pay our assistant Jemal’s salary. Jemal was once a beneficiary himself as a teenager and now is very capable assistant to the director. A few days ago, our Jemal was contacted by his friend of his who said that the director of the company he worked for wanted to help our children. Therefore, the friend wanted to bring the director to Mkurnali. As I, the director, was busy that day, Jemal himself organized the meeting and this businessman visited us. He was delighted by what he saw, especially our motto "Work, help yourself and others!" and he offered to give us some support.
As a first step, he left Jemal with money to buy presents for the kids. The day after, Jemal took the kids to the shops and markets and bought them toys, diapers, food, clothes and school items. The kids came back home delighted and happy because Jemal and Nato, another resident who went too, let them choose their own gifts.
We are also celebrating here at Mkurnali. On 8th September one of our recently arrived young beneficiaries gave birth! She needed a C-section, and we are proud that on this occasion we were able to cover the expenses ourselves with money we received from local donations.
