Dear All,
We are writing to express our heartfelt gratitude for your support and trust in the Hope for Pearl 2025. To date, a total of $10,395 in charitable donations have been publicly raised through the GlobalGiving platform. Among them, the Shanghai Representative Office of the Global Endowment Fund (USA) allocated US$4,964.66 in October 2025, equivalent to RMB 30,202.12 at the exchange rate on the date of receipt.
30,000 yuan of the fund will be used to provide three years of high school living subsidy for four outstanding Pearl Program students from economically disadvantaged families in the class of 2025 of Longshan No. 1 Middle School in Yunnan Province. The subsidy standard is 2,500 yuan per academic year, which is paid in 10 monthly installments, with a total of 7,500 yuan for three years. The remaining 5,202.12 yuan will be combined with the 2026 fundraising to be used for the living allowance of the 2026 Pearl Project students. After the start of the new school year,
Zhejiang Xinhua Charity Education Foundation will transfer funds to the school account in the semester before the new semester, and students need to sign a receipt form, which will be submitted to the foundation after completion. After students complete their senior year of high school, the foundation will report their college entrance examination admission results to donors.
During the three years of high school, the foundation will conduct regular school visits to learn about students' academic and living conditions. In addition to financial aid, the Foundation recruits partner schools for the Pearl Project program to co-organize a summer camp for Pearl students each summer. The camp not only strengthens the bonds between Pearl students but also empowers current students with a variety of skills and experiences.
The following is a reprint of a letter of thanks from Liu, one of the beneficiary students:
I am from Tao Village, Yongban Town, Liutong City, Yunnan Province. My home is about 132 kilometers from the high school. Here's an introduction to my family: there are six people in my family: parents, sister, brother, grandmother and me. Currently, the three of us are still in school. My family's main source of income is my parents farming at home. My grandmother is old and unable to work, so she needs our care. The daily expenses at home are quite high because all three of our siblings are in school. Entering high school means entering a new stage of life. I found that high school was very stressful, and I already felt the heavy burden of studying. I have to take nine courses a day and spend a lot of time studying. Subjects such as math and science are particularly difficult, but the high school level is a time of new challenges and problems. Now that I've adjusted to high school life, I've made new friends and learned new things, which makes me very happy. I sincerely thank all the kind uncles and aunts for their selfless dedication and help. Thank you for everything you do for us!
Yours sincerely,
Pearl disciple: Liu Yi
