The most common and fatal cancer among Malian women is also one that is highly avoidable- cervical cancer. Human Papillomavirus, or HPV, can cause cervical cancer in women. However, the two strands of HPV that are responsible for 70% of cervical cancer cases are preventable through a vaccine that is already available in 125 countries.
While this vaccine is available for so many people worldwide, it has unfortunately not been introduced in some developing nations, such as Mali. However, the fatal impact of cervical cancer can be mitigated through yearly cervical cancer exams, and the knowledge of their importance.
Cervical cancer exams are crucial to the health and wellness of the Malian community- it is important to spread awareness about the life saving benefits of this simple medical practice. This program aims to equip women with the knowledge they need to make personal and crucial medical decisions, and raise the rate of cervical cancer exams.
Now more than ever, we look to our incredible GAIA Vaccine Foundation community for support. With a donation of only $15, you would be providing the entire treatment to one woman with precancerous lesions- potentially saving her life. With a donation of $25, you would be providing supplies for cervical cancer screenings for five women, making an extraordinary impact on their long term health journeys. With a generous donation of $100, you would be covering the salary of one doctor providing cervical cancer screenings for an entire month- potentially giving their patients a second chance at life. We are extremely appreciative of your continued generosity as we continue our mission of reducing the incidence of infectious disease.
