Preparing for blast off!

GAIA is preparing to launch a new campaign for cervical cancer prevention in Bamako, Mali!

Our theme is “Mother-daughter” and our campaign includes prevention services for both generations of women: cervical cancer screening for women and HPV vaccination for girls.

This campaign will run for one year at 6 participating health clinics in Bamako. All screening and vaccination will be offered free of charge.

Of course, this new campaign includes a new textile pattern to help spread the word about the services. Our mother-daughter logo is embedded a pattern of floral geometry that uses 6-petal and 12-petal designs as visual reminders for Malian prevention protocols: the 2nd dose of the HPV vaccine is delivered 6-months after the first, and women need a cervical cancer screening every 12-months. A subtle pattern of cervical cells creates a scintillating background.

Our slogan, as before, is the Malian proverb, “It is better to prevent than to cure”.

Midwives, nurses, and community health workers will be wearing the new pattern at they lead info sessions and neighborhood outreach events to raise awareness.

Our goals? Creating paired mother-daughter prevention services may be the best way to increase both generations’ access to care and decrease the high cervical cancer rates in Mali.

We want to engage both generations in a national conversation about prevention.

Will you join us in this new endeavor to bring prevention services to even more Malian women and girls?

Will you help these girls get vaccinated?
