Project Report | Dec 18, 2015
Working in Macuane

By Mitch Lewis | Executive Director

Although our mission remains focused on Making Shoes for Barefoot Children in Mozambique, while conducting shoe making workshops for women in the village of Macuane, we came across a situation that we would like to address. In the village there is a preschool which cares for and educates the youngsters whose mothers are away gathering firewood and water. The preschool has a single teacher who was hired by an NGO that formerly worked with the village. A few years ago they left, and for the past 3 years the teacher has worked without getting paid. There is also a great need for books and supplies. With your support, we would like to help out. I’ve shared a video of the teacher with her class. She is addressing them in a bush dialect called Changane. Since most of you probably are not fluent in Changane, I will tell you what she is saying. Each day she selects another child to be “the leader.” She is introducing the little boy as the leader for the day. The You Tube link is- https://youtu.be/Ijy2yRAcYpU  If you care to have your donation specifically go towards supporting this preschool, please have your donation end in a 3. So instead of donating $30, donate $33, or instead of $100, donate $103. Thanks.

GlobalGiving Year-End Campaign-

Our Project is participating in the GlobalGiving Year-End Campaign. To be eligible for prize money, we need to raise $3,000 from a minimum of 30 donors. The donations have to be made by midnight, December 31, 2015. Following is the link to our project page:

Mitch
