In our efforts on the ground in Ukraine and Poland one of the prjects was to support a temporary shelter at the Chelm border crossing in Poland. This was one of the sites for refugees to enter into Poland from Ukraine. Most people used this as a transition zone beofre moving onto Poland, Germany or other European countries. However, some of the families had nowhere to go or chose to wait here with the expectation of returning home soon. They were intending to stay on here for several months till they could go back. One of the biggest need for this group was to have access to a fell fledged kitchen so they could prepare their own meals for themselves and their children. This would provide them woth dignity of cooking their own meals and food that was culturally suitable for them instead of handouts provided to them. This would also give the women important work to keep them occupied and enable children to eat meals prepared by their mothers and aunts. The second important need was setting up an entertainment center for the children so they could watch educative and entainment programs in Ukrainian and keep them occupied. We decided to help set up these two. We are helping refurbish two rooms and enquip them with all the utilities, utensils, entertainment units, etc. The process is almost complete and will soon be ready for use. Thank you for your continued support.
