At The Girl Child Foundation Uganda, we believe that no person living with HIV should have to face their diagnosis alone. For many adolescents and young people, learning that they are HIV-positive can bring fear, anxiety, stigma, discrimination, and uncertainty about the future. Without appropriate emotional support, these challenges can affect treatment adherence, education, relationships, self-esteem, and overall well-being.
Our counseling and psychosocial support program provides a safe, confidential, and compassionate environment where people living with HIV/AIDS can express their feelings, receive guidance, and develop the confidence to move forward. Through individual counseling, peer-support groups, life-skills education, HIV awareness sessions, and referrals to appropriate health services, we help people understand that HIV does not define who they are or limit their dreams.
Our support helps adolescents and young people build resilience, improve self-esteem, understand the importance of treatment adherence, and make informed decisions about their health and future. Peer support also enables young people to learn from one another, overcome isolation, and realize that they are not alone.
We also work with parents, caregivers, schools, and communities to promote understanding and reduce HIV-related stigma and discrimination. By strengthening supportive environments, we help ensure that young people living with HIV are treated with dignity, compassion, and acceptance.
With continued support from donors and partners, The Girl Child Foundation Uganda can reach more vulnerable young people with counseling, psychosocial support, life-skills training, HIV education, and referrals to essential services. Together, we can restore hope, strengthen resilience, promote treatment adherence, and empower every young person living with HIV to pursue education, build a meaningful future, and live with dignity and confidence.
