Sometimes, the most powerful support comes from someone who understands your experience. For people living with HIV/AIDS, peer-support groups can provide encouragement, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
The Girl Child Foundation Uganda facilitates supportive spaces where people can connect, share experiences, and encourage one another. Combined with professional counseling, life-skills education, and HIV awareness, peer support helps participants strengthen resilience and confidence.
People are encouraged to discuss challenges such as stigma, relationships, education, treatment, and planning for the future in safe and respectful settings.
Participants can also become positive role models by encouraging their peers to seek appropriate support and remain hopeful.
We also involve caregivers and communities in stigma-reduction activities.
With donor support, we can establish and strengthen more peer-support opportunities for vulnerable youth. Together, we can turn shared experiences into strength, connection, and hope.
