There are many slum dwellers and nomadic people who go out and collect garbage, work on tea stalls, do begging just to fulfill their basic needs. They never have money to live a lavish life but also they never think of it as their day goes off while working just for food, shelter and clothes. Still there are many shelter or we could say small huts of these people which they build from sticks and polythene does not even protect them from the rain. They always find something to keep up on these huts to protect themselves from the heavy rain. Their huts are very important to them as it is very important for their survival but still this basic need of these people requires some one support or attention.
In this context, our team went to these slums and streets and identified 50 different families which required a relief to make a shelter of their own and organized Tarpaulin Shelter Relief program. In this program, RSKS India team went to provide and install or set up the tarpaulin at their huts or shelter so that they could be protected from the heavy rainfall and would be able to have their basic need of shelter. They got their huts/ shelter ready to live and were also told about the ways they have to look after their hut/shelter so that it could be protected from anything like fire. The RSKS Team also went door to door of these slum and street people and told them the ways to install or set up the tarpaulin around their homes.
Through the Tarpaulin Shelter Relief program of RSKS India, 50 families and approx 250 people got relief and a shelter above their head to live into. These people got protection from the various seasons (rainfall, summer & winter) and had something called privacy and protection. As these shelter not only provided them a space to live in but also a protection from animals. These people now not have to sleep outside or at the streets. They have now their own space to live into and this made the whole family very happy. Now they are searching and working for their other basic needs which are food and clothes which also RSKS India would support in future. They all thank all the donors and team RSKS India for such a wonderful relief to them.
