The Iftar for Children: End Hunger This Ramadan project, implemented by Elite Star Foundation, was established to provide nutritious meals to vulnerable children in Niger State, Nigeria, particularly those from low-income households and orphanages who struggle to afford adequate food during Ramadan. The project aims to raise $50,000 to support 10,000 children with balanced meals and help ensure they can break their fast with dignity.
As of this reporting period, the project has received $164 in donations from three generous donors, representing approximately 0.33% of the total fundraising target. Although the amount raised remains below the initial goal, these contributions have provided a starting point for the project’s feeding intervention. Based on the project’s estimated cost of $10 per child for an Iftar meal, the funds raised represent meal support equivalent to approximately 16 child-meals, subject to actual costs and funds available for implementation.
Elite Star Foundation recognizes the importance of ensuring that available resources translate into meaningful assistance for vulnerable children. The project has highlighted the continuing need for food assistance among families affected by rising food prices and limited household income. The experience reinforces the importance of careful financial management, transparent reporting, and prioritizing available resources to support children facing food insecurity.
The foundation remains committed to improving access to nutritious food for disadvantaged children in Niger State. Lessons from this phase will inform subsequent implementation efforts, with attention to responsible resource allocation, beneficiary needs, and the continued monitoring of project outcomes. The ultimate objective is to strengthen food security for vulnerable children and extend the reach of the intervention as resources permit.
