At the beginning of the year, LEAP Africa commenced the 2024 iLEAD Programme in Sokoto state, North West, Nigeria. This year-long programme is designed to empower students in underserved communities, preparing them for a successful transition to post-secondary school life.
Recognizing the pivotal role educators/teachers play in shaping the holistic development of students, the initiative kicked off with the Training of Trainers. A cohort of 100 teachers from different schools within the state underwent in-depth training, acquiring critical skills and strategies to empower them to impart knowledge, skills, and tools to their students while providing comprehensive psychosocial support.
In our commitment to student-centred education, a baseline survey was conducted, with over 1200 participating students. This is as an integral part of the 2024 iLEAD Programme, with the primary goal of capturing the expectations of participating students ensuring that the iLEAD programme design aligns with their aspirations. The holistic nature of the iLEAD Programme is a catalyst for positive change within the educational landscape. By addressing both educators and students, we contribute to the comprehensive development of individuals and communities.
