June Project Update- Launch of the center

By Shoshana Grossman-Crist | Communications and Quality Control Coordinator

Opening ceremony for the "I want to, I can" Center
Opening ceremony for the "I want to, I can" Center

We are excited to share that during April and May, we trained 35 local promoters to work with the children in the community of Orizabita, Hidalgo State. And on May 28 we inaugurated the local “Yo quiero, yo puedo” (I want to, I can) Development Center in which these promoters will work. In the opening ceremony the local elders blessed the Center with an ancient indigenous ceremony (see photo), so we can expect the Center to be very successful!

During the first week after the Center opened, 139 children signed up to participate in it's activities. With our support the local promoters organize these educational and developmental activities for children 0 to nine years of age and their parents.

Finally, in June we took initial measurements of the children. This is part of the evaluation activities and will allow us to later see the impact of this phase of the project. Look forward to hearing more about the results in future updates!

We want to thank you, our supporters; all this work is possible because of your help!
