November Project Update - Eat your legumes!

By Shoshana Grossman-Crist | Communications and Quality Control Coordinator

Mmm...delicious legumes!
Mmm...delicious legumes!

This November, the children at the “I want to, I can” Center learned about healthy eating habits and members of the community became more involved in the program. Read on to find out how!

With diabetes on the rise in Mexico, the “I want to, I can” Development Center in Orizaba, Hidalgo emphasized the importance of eating well during “Healthy eating month”. Each day throughout November, a promoter brought a different healthy lunch for the boys and girls at the Center. When IMIFAP-“I want to, I can” visited, the children were chowing down on legumes and learning about the importance of eating a variety of healthy foods.

Back in August, IMIFAP-“I want to, I can” held a life skills training with about 30 caretakers who expressed interest in participating in future workshops. In response, the Center’s promoters organized a series of talks that they themselves will put on. Among other topics, they plan to discuss the issue of violence with men in the community.

Thank you for your continued support of the boys and girls of the “I want to, I can” Development Center.
