The microbiota team has been well advancing!
On one side, we have identified the four schools that will be participating. Three of them are located in Madrid and are schools where kids have a common characteristic of neurological disorders. The fourth school is in a rural area in the north of Spain. This school has been invited to join the project, so that the impact of the probiotic among kids living in rural areas can be compared to the impact in the microbiota of the kids living in urban environments. Each school will participate with around 15-25 kids, and all families are very excited to participate due to the great positive impact that this probiotic might have in their kids.
On the other side, our incredible research medical team, composed by 5 professionals, has identified the strains of bacteria that will be included in this specific probiotic. They have detailed all protocols of this scientific study and have sent all documentation to the ethical committee of one of the biggest hospitals in Spain, La Paz Hospital, located in Madrid. We are just waiting to get the ¨green light¨ to proceed with the start of the medical and cognitive evaluations of the 90 kids participating during the following 5 months.
Also important is to highlight that the new probiotic has also been produced by an important Spanish medical laboratory that is helping us with this project. They have produced over 10.000 doses of the probiotic and placebo, since the project will be offering randomly placebo and probiotic to the kids, to make it a real scientific study.
We hope that over the next months we will be able to inform about the evaluations and the start of the dosing!
We are thankful for your help, which is certainly providing us with the economic capacity to bring this incredible study to come true.
Yours,
Fundacion Querer
