Providing food but shelter is needed.

Today, we are heading out once again to assist our Young Environmental Zulu Dancers. It is always a joy to see their bright smiles as they greet us. Every visit is a humbling experience, as they express immense gratitude for the nutritious food, beverages, and occasional treats like biscuits and crisps that we bring along.

The weather is slightly overcast, and we hope the rain holds off. Regardless of rain or sunshine, these dedicated young dancers walk miles to reach their performance area—a simple clearing in the bush beside the road leading into Hluhluwe Park.

If it rains, they seek shelter under a tree, sometimes warming themselves by a small fire if the downpour isn’t too heavy. One of our key goals is to build them a shelter to protect them from the elements. While we have not yet secured enough funding, we remain hopeful that we will soon be able to begin this much-needed project.

Beyond providing protection from the weather, this shelter could also serve as a classroom—a space where we can hold conservation lessons and inspire more children to join, learn to dance, connect with nature, and engage in positive, enriching activities. We look forward to making this vision a reality and creating a lasting impact for these talented young dancers.
