Ai story | Be brave to express and love

By Yuewen Yang | University Volunteer

The first time I met them, most students were shy and timid, so Ai's bold let her so different, she smiled happily and said "good morning" to me, gave me a big smile, eyes with full of joy and sincerity. I was cured at that moment by her simile. When all the children were full of curiosity and questions about us, she was generous and naturally said hello to us. I began to pay special attention to this little girl.

One day, Ai did not communicate with other classmates in a team game. She leaned on the table to mope and seems like very sad. I came forward to ask if she is okay. she said: "I am OK, Miss! " I didn’t buy it and comforted her by saying that she could tell me anything, that I could always be her confidant. At that moment I saw her eyes be red, but she still smiled and pushed me away, to find an excuse to go to the toilet.

Later I found her lying on the table and crying. I finally figure it out the reason she was sad is that every time she raised her hand to answer teacher’s question, she was slower than her good friend. So she couldn’t be the best students and blame herself to be so slow.I said to her, "Ai is cried because your hand is slow, I always believed that you can do anything, as long as you keep trying and not discouraged! You can think about how can we solve this problem and i will accompany with you all the time." She nodded thoughtfully.

Ai spent the ten days of summer camp happily. She performed well on the last day’s performance. I said goodbye to her, and she hugged me. "I couldn't bear to part with you, especially with you." I hugged her tightly back, "Hope you can be happy, I am so looking forward to your beautiful future."

This is the letter from Ai. She was so brave and generous to express the love of the teacher, as well as share her life. Although the Summer Camp is over, our teachers continue to accompany the children's growth in the way of letters for a whole year! let’s accompany with more kids to grow together!
