First Encounter: The Silent Basketball Talent
During the initial home visit, Ale's heart raced with nervousness: "If I had known earlier, I wouldn't have come" In the early stages of the program, he was quiet and reserved, as if enclosed in a transparent shell. Although Ale excelled in basketball with remarkable skills and strength, earning admiration from his classmates, he rarely initiated conversations with teachers and never considered taking on the role of "team captain." At that time, he remained low-key, hiding his brilliance, silently waiting for the moment to break free from his cocoon.
Transformation: Recognition and Encouragement Ignite a Spark
Basketball class became Ale's "starting point to shine." The teacher recognized his potential, entrusted him with the responsibility of captain, and encouraged him to lead the team in training. At the school fair, he blazed through challenges, finishing first with ease. Guided by the teacher's words, "You're so skilled-why not help others?" Ale began actively assisting those around him. Seeing a smaller classmate struggling, he boldly offered, "Come on, I'll help you!" In a three-legged race, he proactively formed a team to support others. These small moments highlighted Ale's growth-from a capable individual focused on his own success to a collaborative partner and a thoughtful student who listens and reflects.
Farewell: Unspoken Emotions and Gratitude
On the day of parting, Ale, once a silent boy, quietly came to see the teachers off with reddened eyes. As he waved goodbye, the teachers, too, were moved to tears. On his way home, he sent a heartfelt message: "Dear teachers, these ten days have been incredibly precious I know you've worked hard in meetings, and it's hard to say goodbye" These simple words carried the depth of emotions from distance to dependence, witnessing a transformation nurtured by love and recognition. Ale's story is a vivid testament to the power of Shining Star Foundation's efforts. A word of recognition, an act of trust, or a moment of listening can awaken a silent soul, guiding young individuals to learn how to embrace others and pass on warmth. May every child find courage in love, just like Ale, transitioning from "self-reliance" to "collective action," refracting the light they receive into warmth that illuminates others.
