Soil Health and Climate Action Network (SHCAN) has kicked off the Women-Led Results-Based Financing for Clean Cooking Adoption Project in Kitoba Sub-County, Hoima District, Uganda funded by International Development Innovation Network (IDIN).
Through this pilot initiative, ten trained women community energy champions will take the lead in constructing Rocket Lorena improved cookstoves for new households in their communities.
The women will receive small performance-based incentives for each stove that is successfully constructed, verified, and actively used. This approach is designed to strengthen women-led local entrepreneurship, encourage peer-to-peer learning, and increase community adoption of clean cooking technologies.
The project has started with a real household!
The first improved cookstove was constructed for Phionah, a resident of Kikonoka Village, who participated in a cost-sharing arrangement with SHCAN to have the Rocket Lorena stove constructed at her home.
This marks an important step toward:
From trained women champions to cleaner kitchens and healthier communities, SHCAN is supporting women to become local leaders in the transition to clean cooking.
