The prototype of the solar fruit and vegetable drying machine was developed by Tovo. Tovo is the son of Malaza. Malaza was one of the Zahana members introducing the improved cookstove and making of biocharcoal at home together with Richard. Tovo kept a low profile and is and integral part of the local bicycle team of Zahana trainers. After his father's passing it became apparent that he was one of the experts behind the idea of biocharcoal making and had a lot of innovative ideas beyond improved cookstoves. The innovative ‘drying machine’ is a testament to that.
Tovo will advise and supervise the leadership committee’s filed testing of the innovative fruit dryer. After successful field testing it will be up to them to develop strategies to properly distribute and operate the machine on a larger scale.
The first prototype of the ‘machine’ will be given and used in Fiarenanana. A green village full of trees, Fiarenana produces a lot of fruit already and is the ideal candidate to filed test it on site.
Raw materials: fruits and vegetables
The technical reception of equipment was successful in drying fruits and vegetables with initial field tests. We are eagerly looking forward to the promising results of the tests in Fiarenana.
The table in the photo below designates the different types of fruits and vegetables with the water content lost during drying. (The report layout does not accommodate tables and a photos is the simplest way to achieve that.)
