Zahana’s improved clay cookstove is one the product that brought great benefits to the villages, especially with its environmental impact by reducing the need of using firewood from trees to cook.
Together with our reforestation efforts, the villages are getting greener and greener. It also has a great impact on the villagers’ everyday life, for both the users and locally improved cookstove manufacturers in our villages.
Zahana introduced the use of the improved cookstove in the four villages in 2019. We held a training in the village of Fiadanana and subsequently in many other villages on how to make and improved cookstove with locally available materials (see website and prior project reports.)
One of the very first cook stove manufactured during the first training in 2019 is still being used by our Midwife with no damage for over 5 years. She and her husband use it for their everyday cooking. They only need to put few bio-charcoal in the morning and can cook all their food for the day.
