Improved cookstoves now the norm in Tsaramandroso

Dah is based in Tsaramandroso, one of our most active and 3rd Zahana villages. He and his wife are working together to promote the use of the improved cook stove and bio-charcoal. Their engagement and their ability to make improved cookstoves available for sale is the main reason, nearly 100 % of Tsaramandroso’s villagers are now using the improved Zahana stove in their houses. This is the highest implementation rate so far.

From our short interview we learned, Dah manufactures about 50 Zahana stoves per year. His clients are not just at home, but extend to the surroundings villages of Tsaramandroso.

The family enjoys the same benefits as Jean Liva (see our prior report). Dah and his wife no longer need to borrow from the microcredit to buy their ducklings. Plus, they are able to send their child to study in the secondary school in the next bigger town of Tsiroanomandidy (a few hours walking distance form their village)!

GlobalGiving’s Passport to Purpose campaign is in full swing, from September 8, 2025, at 10:00:00 EDT to September 12, 2025, at 17:00:00 EDT. A generous additional donation had increased the matching funds available for all donations made in this period. The 2025 Passport to Purpose campaign from GlobalGiving is a special fundraising opportunity exclusively for organizations registered in countries most impacted by the USAID funding cuts. Madagascar unfortunately qualifies.

The details can be found here: https://www.globalgiving.org/leaderboards/passport-to-purpose/terms/
