We wanted to send an inspiring quick update about our health center for the entire region, that is being completed in the town of Bevato.
We hope the pictures basically speak for themselves. We are very excited as we look forward to an inauguration soon. This brand-new hospital specializes in maternal health. With this focus, it is equipped to provide a wide range of services even to perform emergency surgeries when needed, thereby reducing maternal mortality in the entire region.
We are actively working with the mayor of Bevato to secure medical equipment, supplies and furniture, such as beds for the hospital.
Sadly, one of the recent unforeseen consequences that has a big impact are the ever increasing oil prices. Consequently, transportation costs in Madagascar are skyrocketing, and the construction was far more costly than budgeted. This means that currently all available funds have been spent on building the hospital and the French NGO is unfortunately not in a position to build an annex where the families of patients can live. This much-needed building is crucial, as there are no accommodations or hotels in town where relatives and caretakers can live. We are exploring other options for funding and are open to suggestions.
