A group of 50 girl students accompanied by their teachers and parents representing various schools and chapters assembled at VAP headquarters for a one day training workshop organized by Mrembo coaches. The coaches took the participants through various topics that included: sexual reproductive health and rights, leadership and conflict management. With VAP programs already live in their respective schools, the workshop provided a safer space to candidly and openly talk about issues surrounding a girl child and engaging Mrembo coaches interactively." The workshop has taught me how to make my own decision regarding my life.I will always protect my life and also talk to other young girls about hoow they can protect theirs too." Said Rachel 13 year old from Kimathi primary school
Talking About What's Not Said
Teaming up with What’s Not Said a charity group that’s geared towards teaching and facilitating discussions on cultural norms, sexual health and relationships to empower youth,VAP organized a one day seminar with a group of 250 boys drawn from various local football clubs that work closely with VAP programs. The group had interactive and open discussions about critical issues and topics surrounding sex, relationships, cultural norms amongst others that many a times are not talked about openly. Through the discussions, the youth had an opportunity to gain tangible information that would trigger them to make their own informed decisions." I now know how to protect my life and making healthy decisions about me.I will also talk to other young girls on how to make informed healthy decision regarding their lives."
