In readiness for the employability and entrepreneurship world, a bunch of 26 Mrembo girls currently on vocational training pursuing both hair and beauty, pastry and baking courses attended a one day seminar for vocational training held at VAP offices. The seminar was led by invited professional guests with vast experience in the field of entrepreneurship, job preparedness and retention. Participants were taken through practical and theoretical sessions of their respective courses with additional trainings on: personality profile, job application, personal branding, public relations, self-employment,budgeting, savings and banking .Budgeting, savings and banking trainings were provided courtesy of standard chartered bank who sent a staff to deliver the trainings on pro bono. The trainings included Q and A sessions with the facilitators.
Mrembo Food Challenge
As part of their practical preparations, Mrembo vocational training candidates for catering organized an internal Mrembo Food Challenge. The challenge that came as a surprise to VAP staff and volunteers was meant to showcase their cooking skills gained throughout their course and as a signal to get into the world of cooking. The candidates who are about to graduate from their course will be attached to various local existing restaurants and for those willing to start up their own businesses will be supported to realize their dreams.
