Finally back to school

After a year and a half of schools being closed due to the pandemic, they have finally started opening up for limited numbers of children and we are back delivering the project in 6 different schools. Here we shall share the views of one of the school head's about what it means to have the teenagers back working with the children.

Flávia, head of Hercília school tells how “the project brought a return with more possibilities, in relation to educational activities of socialization and considering that our children also suffered a deficit in these two years during the pandemic. The Reading in Schools Project brought a more lively and diversified return, with pedagogical proposals that add to the school's. The challenges remain the same, we have a greater concern and focus regarding security protocols against coronavirus, but the concerns are the same as before. And, at the same time, we need to guarantee the children's daily routine with every pedagogical part, food and care. The project is of great importance, it is a project that expands the repertoire of pedagogical techniques, brings the lightness of teenagers in this interaction they have with children and a different moment of learning a different way of learning with new people. This also turns out to be a learning experience for teenagers. The project fits perfectly with what the group of teachers, pedagogical coordination and direction believe. The team sees the importance of reading mediation, puppet theatre and games in early childhood, this is something that ends up fitting perfectly, because it is the focus that the Secretary of Education has.”

Currently, class sizes are small as children are coming to school twice a week but by the end of October, if all goes well, then we shall be back to the full sized classes.
