In November, the teenagers had their last month delivering sessions of reading mediation, story telling and puppet theatre to all of the children in our partner schools and boy, did they work hard throughout the year! When we added up the final numbers, we discovered that every single one of the 5,200 children from the 8 partner schools had received an average of 8 sessions through the academic year.
We also decided to do an evaluation with all of the school principals and pedagogical coordinators and 45 of the teachers all of whom said that they highly value the partnership with ACER. This is very gratifying for us as it reflects how the children see us as we described in an earlier report. Special highlights from the survey with the school staff are that 85% consider that following the activities we do with the children, they have improved their results in the classroom and secondly, 76% said that the children now show greater interest in reading.
When asked about the performance of the teenagers, 81% of the staff classified them as being either "good" or "excellent" as can be seen from the graphs below.
It is with a stong feeling of having completed a job well done that we end the year and we would like to sincerely thank you all for the support that you have given us and hope that you will be encouraged to support our projects next year as well.
Christmas presents are also most welcome!
