Since 2016, LifeTime Projects has been committed to promoting literacy for women in Cameroon through its Impuls’Her program. In April 2025, this mission took a major step forward with a new partnership with APADES (Association for the Promotion of Literacy and Social Development), combining local expertise and international volunteer support.
In Cameroon, despite progress on gender equality, significant disparities remain. In areas around Yaoundé, many women (particularly in rural or disadvantaged communities) face early marriage, unplanned pregnancies, and premature school dropout, leading to limited access to education and employment.
The program offers literacy workshops designed to strengthen basic reading, writing, and life skills. These sessions provide women with tools to achieve greater personal autonomy and improve their chances of social and professional inclusion.
APADES brings deep knowledge in community development and functional literacy and provides essential cultural and language support, especially for women who speak only local dialects, while LifeTime Projects contributes international volunteers and project management support. Together, we run community-centered workshops that build capacity among women and local stakeholders alike.
Impact:
Through this collaboration, women in vulnerable situations gain vital skills and self-confidence. The ripple effects extend beyond individual learners, strengthening families, promoting gender equity, and creating more resilient communities.
We thank all our partners and volunteers for their dedication to advancing literacy and gender equality in Cameroon.
