Indigenous women save the sacred Mayan bee

During this period, a series of actions were carried out with the aim of strengthening the meliponiculture activity. Activities were developed at the production level, work was done on good production practices and on the alignment of their product to the conditions demanded by the market. In terms of production, the following training sessions were carried out:

• Productive and organizational diagnosis
• Good Feeding Practices
• Healthcare Internships
• Control of Nenem (use of netting) and other pests and diseases
• Honey Harvest
• Strengthening the filling out of marketing, production, and organization forms
• Importance of Supplemental Feeding
• Visibility of errors made in the management of new hives
• Introduction to meliponiculture, management and surveillance of weak hives (for new members)

Likewise, training processes related to their sale in the market were carried out, dealing with the following training topics:

• Quality demanded in the honey market
• Product labelling and presentation
• My Time Counts Too: Investment Analysis and Cash Flow Incorporation
• Healthy Marketing
• Market Potential in Hive Products

Another very important process is the social preparation of the groups at the organizational level, as well as in gender aspects, in which the following topics were addressed:

• Strengthening decision-making
• Workshop: "Financial Education and Savings"
• Follow-up to savings "Accountability Assembly"

Procesos de formación de mujeres mayas

Durante este período se realizaron una serie de acciones con el objetivo de fortalecer la actividad meliponícola. Se desarrollaron actividades a nivel productivo, se trabajó en buenas prácticas productivas y en el alineamiento de su producto a las condiciones que demanda el mercado. En materia de producción, se realizaron las siguientes capacitaciones:

• Diagnóstico productivo y organizacional
• Buenas prácticas de alimentación
• Prácticas sanitarias
• Control de Nenem (uso de mallas) y otras plagas y enfermedades
• Cosecha de miel
• Fortalecer el llenado de formularios de comercialización, producción y organización.
• Importancia de la alimentación suplementaria
• Visibilidad de errores cometidos en el manejo de nuevas colmenas.
• Introducción a la meliponicultura, manejo y vigilancia de colmenas débiles (para nuevos miembros)

Asimismo, se realizaron procesos de capacitación relacionados con su venta en el mercado, atendiendo a los siguientes temas de capacitación:

• Calidad exigida en el mercado de la miel
• Etiquetado y presentación del producto.
• Mi tiempo también cuenta: análisis de inversiones e incorporación del flujo de caja
• Comercialización Saludable
• Potencial de mercado en productos Hive

Otro proceso muy importante es la preparación social de los grupos a nivel organizacional, así como en aspectos de género, en el cual se abordaron los siguientes temas:

• Fortalecer la toma de decisiones
• Taller: “Educación Financiera y Ahorro”
• Seguimiento al ahorro “Asamblea de Rendición de Cuentas”
