The DAKTARI mission never stops!

Hello All!

I hope this new project report finds you well. I hope that you are enjoying your summer holidays! (We are currently in the middle of winter!!) We have been very busy lately with the project and would like to let you know what we are doing!

Over the last month we were privileged enough to take on a new school, Diputhi. We usually take Grade 8’s, yet because of their exam period we welcomed the Grade 7’s, making for a new and exciting experience not only for the younger children but also for the volunteers, who were faced with the challenges of a younger crowd! Although somewhat younger than the children we usually welcome, the children we had from Diputhi were a real pleasure to have!

They were all great, but standing out from the rest were Light and Evidence, two young girls who’s quick wit and hunger for knowledge really impressed everyone at the camp. They stood out not only in the classroom, but also during stabling, where they both took a special care and attention when handling and working with the animals. The hesitation they had with the animals at first disappeared within minutes and they both now want to pursue studies to become vets!

As some of you may know, the children in the local schools are currently on holiday, but this does not mean that the DAKTARI project takes a break! We have made a point to continue providing the educational experience for the children even when they are on holiday because of the importance of reaching as many children as possible. Although their week is quite intense with all they have to learn, we include many practical and interactive lessons to make it fun!

Again, a heartfelt thank you to all for supporting what we do! Your donations make a huge difference to the project as well as our motivation to continue working hard! From everyone at DAKTARI as well as the children, we are tremendously thankful!

Best regards and until next time!
