At the close of last year, The Health Journalism Network, with financial support from the Wellcome Trust, brought journalism fellows to COP28 in Dubai to facilitate access to scientists and experts working at the intersection of climate and health. The fellows—media professionals from Latin America, Africa and Asia—are reporting on stories that connect the dots between climate and health, raising the profile of One Health and its impact on their communities.
Returning from COP28 with interviews with key stakeholders and renewed support from their newsrooms and editors, the fellows are now working on stories and making changes in their newsrooms, such as one initiative to create a special Climate-Health pull-out edition with dozens of stories, feature articles, and opinion pieces on the topic.
Join us in celebrating our fellows, and check out our panel discussion at the COP28: When Climate Is a Health Story.
Since our last update, we’ve also published new resources for journalists:
As we begin to see the stories that come out of our COP28 fellowships, we’re reminded time and time again of the importance of this work. Thank you for your generous support.
