Being in alignment with and nurturing the local culture
has always been an important component of Isha Vidhya
schools.
Pongal (in Tamilnadu) and Makara Shankaraanti (in Andhra
Pradesh) is a very important festival for the rural India.
Farmers celebrate the harvest season by making sweet
Pongal (rice with jaggery and milk), along with other
agricultural products like sugarcane, turmeric, etc. Cows and
bullocks are decorated and celebrated during the festival.
You can find more information about the Pongal festival
at the Wikipedia entry here! :

Isha Vidhya schools celebrated Pongal / Makara Shankaraanti
in a spectacular fashion. We are not going to describe that in
words, instead we are attaching the pictures for your viewing!
We hope you enjoy the festive spirit! If you have any questions,
please email us at global.giving@ishavidhya.org
Thanks & Best Regards.
