Kindergarten students are encouraged to observe and verbalize or
express their observations at Isha Vidhya schools. This art of observation
will beneficial to them in the long-term.
Dharmapuri school’s UKG art and crafts teacher, Pandidurai, took a session
on the theme ‘Sky’ where the students described and drew their observation
of sky at various times of the day. The students were instructed to look at
the sky and notice objects and changes over time.
To get them started, they were asked to look for the sun, moon, stars,
clouds, birds, and airplanes – how they appeared, location, movements,
etc.
Then they were asked to draw whatever they saw in the day time and
at night. This enhanced their observation of differences between day
and the night sky. Also, the students made some remarkable drawings.
