A medical camp was organized by Cuddalore Isha Vidhya
school with the support of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College
and Research Institute, Pondicherry. It was for school students,
staff, parents of the students, and well as the locals residing
near the school. A large number of people availed the free
check-up and were delighted at receiving free medicines for
minor issues.
Ten doctors and specialists including those for diabetes,
orthopaedics, paediatrics, gynaecology, cardiology and
dermatology participated in the camp. Apart from the check-up,
Isha Arogya doctor Dr. Pradeepa conducted a health awareness
program for girl children 9th to 12th Std). She held discussions
on health, hygiene, menstruation and related physiological
knowledge which are not being covered as part of the regular
curriculum. Issues that adolescent girls face including physical,
mental, environmental, familial and social dimensions were
also touched upon. She also gave advice about healthy diet
and patiently answered questions raised by the students.
We are deeply grateful to the doctors for giving their precious
time for the camp.
