The local market is a business method that began
very early in several cultures to buy and sell products.
It is an event which sells self-produced goods and
enables crop exchange also. This method enables
self-sufficiency among the local communities by
promoting local goods!
In the second grade syllabus at our schools, we have
a lesson about local market. The teachers of one of
our schools took the students to the local market to
show them how it operates.
It’s an extremely happening place where the students
got to see fruit shops, food shops, flower plants, flower
pot sales, saplings, corn, peanut, sprouts, and even
petty items. Other than these, there were shops that
sold vegetables, rice, spices, tamarind, salt, butter, etc.
Our students went to every shop, spoke to the
shop-keeper and bought their favorite food items.
They were very interested, as they knew that this is
something new that they were learning. It was a lot
of fun for them.
This activity gave a live experience to the children about"
going to a local market, getting to know the things
available, and buying them. At Isha Vidhya, we
reinforce academics with real-life experiences, so that
students get a first-hand experience of what is being
taught!
We are as excited as you! Please free to share your
