“Before beginning online classes the challenge was
to first source smart devices for some of the students
Volunteers from all over the world generously sent
smartphones from their homes so that Isha Vidhya
students could attend virtual classes.
Familiarizing the online platforms with the teachers
was step one. Network issues, the speaker's voice
breaking, or not even carrying across – were some
of the many challenges that made a discussion,
virtually impossible! In this case, a virtual discussion
was impossible.
Without a classroom environment where students
are in a focused space, it is not easy to have young
children sit and watch a tiny screen for hours.
Motivating them to regularly attend classes online,
creating a sustained interest, and providing a
seamless learning engagement even after the class
ends were all new challenges to the teachers. They
learned as they went, educating the parents of the
students about this transition in their children's
education.
To encourage students who did not have
smartphones, books and lessons were printed and
distributed to the students.
Interactive webinars with eminent speakers were
organized twice a week, with Isha’s global volunteer
support. These sessions created curiosity in both,
students and teachers, drawing large numbers to
attend them.”
We continue to strive to educate India rural children

always, your continued support will be helpful to
source/complete many tasks which require financial
support. You can consider starting a recurring
