Isha Vidhya Infosys Matriculation School was inaugurated in September 2013 with classes from LKG to Standard 6. (2 sections each from LKG to Std 2 and 1 each from Std 3 to 6). Higher classes will be added as the children get promoted. 

Student strength is 378, (225 boys and 153 girls). Special efforts are in progress to enroll more girl children in the coming academic year.

Donations through Global Giving contributed Rs. 219,838/- ($3588) and were used to cover part of the above expenses. The rest was donated by other donors.

In the Children’s Play Area, sports are a key element of development of a child. Giving our school children facilities to play is therefore a key priority. A beginning has been made in this direction.

•  Play equipment have been installed for younger children after leveling and segregating the area and filling it with river sand to make it safe for little children.
• A 1-foot barrier built around it would hold the sand in and prevent it from getting washed away.
• The playground area has been levelled for the children to play. What was a sloping topography with rocks jutting out from the ground, has been levelled and filled to make it suitable and safe for play.
• Since this is at a level of almost 15 feet higher than the ground where the school building is situated, a gradual ramp to provide access to this area was also created. 

The Compound Wall Fencing is 700 meters of fencing and has been done to provide a substantial secure boundary and limit access points into the school compound.

The Watchman’s Cabin is a small shelter near the gate, for the school security personnel to shield them from the elements.

Rithika, scholarship student, shares about her life:

Rithika studies in Standard 6th in Isha Vidhya Infosys School. She travels 19 kms from her village every day to get to school. Prior to joining Isha Vidhya she studied in a Government school near her house. When asked her about new school (Isha Vidhya), she said,
“Where I live, most of my friends study in private English medium schools. I could not do so earlier because my father could not afford it. He sells key chains and purses at the bus stand. I have an elder brother, Pradeep, who is studying in 8th Standard in my previous school, and we both help our father every day in the evening. A friend told my mother about Isha Vidhya and its scholarship program. Then we came to see this school. My mother helps in a book store in Dharmapuri town.
I am very happy and grateful to be in this school. I love coming to school every day, though it is a bit far. I am learning good habits. In my previous school they used to beat us for small mistakes but here teachers are very kind and they never beat us at all. I think I am really lucky to be here. The school has a Math lab, English lab, Computers, library and studying is like play.
Seeing me, my brother too wants to come to Isha Vidhya. Even kids in my neighborhood are more willing to play with me now, as I go to a good school. I am so glad about it.
I like science very much. I want to be an Aeronautical Engineer so that I earn more money and help children like me to study well. I like to play KHO-KHO. I have a good school, good teachers, good friends and hope for a good future.”
