In Indian culture, we have a saying that one should eat
the food that's grown within the near vicinity of where
they live. This is to be in tune with the conditions of
where we live.
On the same lines, Isha Vidhya schools' kitchens use
the vegetables and fruits that are grown in their own
gardens. The produce is organic. It's a labour of love
of the gardeners and supporting staff in each school
that has a kitchen.
We are glad to report the Cuddalore school produce
that they shared with us recently:
Cluster beans: 5 kilograms
Snake guard: 4 kilograms
Bitter guard: 2 kilograms
Ladies finger: 5 kilograms
Radish: 2 kilograms
Broad beans: 3 kilograms
Shares the driver of the school, who also works for
the organic garden:
"Isha vidhya is everything for me. My whole life revolves
around Isha vidhya after join Isha vidhya only i turned a
new leaf. I am very much indebted to Isha vidhya and
I can repay by involving myself in all the activities related
to my School. One is kitchen garden project. Whenever
i work in a garden, the pleasure I get can't be described
in words. We all work as a team forgetting our differences.
Kitchen garden is the only place where we work as a team.
I also feel happy that I am contributing a little to my School
in return for what all that it has done for me. My happiness
knew no bounds. When I pluck the vegetables from the
garden along with my colleagues. I will always be grateful
to Sadhguru for giving me an opportunity to serve in a
wonderful organization like Isha Vidhya."
Shares the gardener:
"Basically I am an agriculturalist so i was happy when I got a
job in Isha vidhya. I was given in charge of kitchen garden in
the school. The method of gardening is new to me since i
have been using chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the
previous job. Another notable feature in the school is all the
staff join together and help me in gardening activities.
We all work as a team and not even a single day i felt the
strain of working in the hot sun. Working in kitchen garden
is the joyful experience and i want to serve in Isha vidhya
as long as my health permits."
As you can see, organic gardening is a priority at Isha
Vidhya school. If you would like to engage in helping the
kitchen infrastructure at Isha Vidhya schools, you can
start a recurring donation for kitchen equipment at the
link provided with this report.
As always, we request you to share this report with your
circle of contacts, and thank you for all that you have
done for Isha Vidhya!
