Tuticorin academic coordinators and PT teachers came up with
'Movement Game' to teach movements, which involved moving
like animals. The students were sat in a circle and movement
of various animals like rabbit, frog, worm, snake, elephant etc.
were demonstrated to the students. They were divided into
smaller groups and each group is asked to act the movement
of an animal.
The activity lead to a lot of laughter and excitement. Everyone
including the teachers, enjoyed copying the animal movement
and bringing variations to it. This was a great game and it could
be easily replicated in schools!
Shares Daisy, Physical Education techer at Tuticorin school :
"We had Movement theme in the month of February. I took the
children to the ground and asked them to make a circle. After that,
I asked them few questions related to garden like
i) Where can you see beautiful flowers?
ii) Who maintain the garden in your home? and so on.
Then I asked them about some animals and reptiles that we
could see in the garden. I also received answers from them: Snake,
worm, frog, monkey, rabbit etc.The class was divided into four
groups with 5 students in each group. At first I showed them the
movement of snake, frog, elephant, worm, monkey, and kangaroo.
Then a race was conducted for each group. Each group was given
a movement. The one who touches the finishing point is the winner.
All the students participated very actively and enthusiastically.
Me and my students enjoyed this game very much."
