There are multiple ways that one could get involved
in helping transforming rural children education.
Corporate employees volunteering is one of them!
These days, many corporates are willing to contribute
employee volunteer hours in which the employees can
either visit the Isha Vidhya schools or do volunteer work
in-house, at their workplace, and their hours of work get
matched by the company!
Cognizant's Chennai offices have been very active
supporters of Isha Vidhya through their Cognizant Outreach
program.
On July 15th, Cognizant campuses in Madras Export
Processing Zone, in Tambaram, Chennai and SIPCOT IT
Park, in Siruseri, Chennai volunteered to create learning
materials for Isha Vidhya! The event was filled with joy and
laughter, as they used coloured chart papers, colour pens,
scissors, rulers, and glue to create those items of learning.
Over 180 employees volunteered their time to create these
kits, which are used to aid the teaching. These aids have
proven to be effective in making concepts clear, increase
retention, and removing the fear of subjects like English and
Maths.
The volunteering effort was spread over 3 days, and was
jokingly titled 'Madras Marathon'. This is the 3rd time Cognizant
employees are volunteering for Isha Vidhya.
We are attaching the photos from the event. Their joy is so
palpable!
If you work for a corporate/company, and would like your
organisation to volunteer for Isha Vidhya at your own campus,
please feel free to email us at global.giving@ishavidhya.org,
and we will put you in touch with the team which can take it
forward!
Once again, thanks for all you did for Isha Vidhya!
